Yet Another Clarification on the Tanguay Situation

Although rumors arose that Tanguay signed a contract with the Florida Panthers earlier today (somewhere in the range of 3 to 5 years at approximately $5 million per year), these rumors have proven to be false. After speaking with a source inside the NHL offices, these rumors were started by internet speculators who felt that it "made sense." While Tanguay to Florida cannot be fully ruled out for obvious reasons, it is not complete as of yet.

Justin's Opinion: As stated earlier today by Chris Botta, Tanguay is being very proactive and contacting teams by himself. Is there a possibility that he told the Panthers he liked their offer, and someone took it too far?

Well, if I was Tanguay's agent and wasn't happy with the offers on the table but had 5 teams or more considering my client; I just might start a little rumor that my client was close to signing somewhere to see if that would get another team or two to up their offers. I'm sure this stuff happens all the time too.
